Rowing competitions at the Olympic Games in Paris will be held in a specially built complex in Vere-sur-Marne. Rowing has been an integral part of the Olympic Games program since 1900. In Paris, fans of this sport will not only be able to watch the dramatic struggle of athletes again, but also the amazing views of Vere-sur-Marne. Another feature of the rowing tournament in 2024 will be that for only the second time in Olympic history, it will include the same number of competitions for men and women. Olympics tells you all the most important things about rowing qualifications at the Olympic Games A total of 502 "academicians" will compete at the Paris 2024 Games: 251 athletes of each gender - 24 less than in Tokyo. This number includes the quotas of the host country (one for each gender) and quotas distributed according to the principle of universality (two for each gender). The remaining 496 athletes (248 men and 248 women) will compete in seven Olympic classes: 58 athletes (29 of each gender) are singles 52 athletes (26 of each gender) — twos 52 athletes (26 of each gender) — doubles doubles 72 athletes (36 of each gender) — fours swing without a helmsman 72 athletes (36 of each gender) — doubles fours 126 athletes (63 of each gender) — eight 64 athletes (32 of each gender) — doubles, lightweight As the host country of France, there is one quota for men and women. Two more quotas for men and women will be distributed by the IOC Tripartite Commission on the principle of universalism. There will be three opportunities in each of the 14 Olympic classes to win a quota for the 2024 Summer Olympics: World Rowing Championships — 2023 336 athletes (168 men and 168 women) will have the opportunity to qualify for the Games at the 2023 World Rowing Championships, which will be held in the capital of Serbia from September 3 to 10, 2023. The competition is open to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs), whose rowing federations are part of the International Rowing Federation (FISA). The teams that took the highest places, according to the number of quotas in each class, will receive tickets to the Games in Paris 2024. Continental Olympic Qualification Regattas in 2023 64 rowers (32 men and 32 women) will be able to qualify through the Continental Olympic Qualification regattas: Asia/Oceania, Africa, the Americas, Europe. Here, quotas can be obtained by those athletes who either did not participate in the 2023 World Rowing Championships, or could not qualify for the Games in any of the classes, or received a quota for only one team. The races will be held in only four boat classes within each of the regattas. FISA will confirm the place and time of each regatta until the end of 2022. The final Olympic Qualification Regatta (May 2024) The final Olympic qualification regatta will be the last chance for 48 men and 48 women (96 athletes in total) to go to the Games. It will be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, in May 2024. Each of the NOCs can participate in races in any of the boat classes in which they have not yet qualified for the Games: for the final regatta there are no restrictions on the number of classes in which the NOCs can field their teams. After each of the qualifying competitions, FISA confirms to the relevant NOCs that they have received a quota. After that, within 14 days, the NOC must inform about the acceptance of quotas. If the NOC does not accept the quota, then it goes to the first of the boats that have not yet qualified (look for the key qualification dates below).
